Don’t Forget: Divisadero Art Walk on Thursday (Now With More Street Food!)

by Andrew Dalton on August 31, 2010

Hey look, it’s back! In case you hadn’t noticed all the signs in literally every shop window on Divis, our tri-monthly Art Walk returns to Divisadero this Thursday night, so round up all of your friends from other neighborhoods and get ready to pack the sidewalks. The weather’s supposed to be great (not that we [...]

Funk Out With Your Junk Out: Madrone’s Motown on Mondays Goes Karaoke

by Andrew Dalton on August 30, 2010

Can you belt out Motown like Aretha? Can you get down with James Brown? I can’t! But if you can, you should definitely hit this week’s edition of Motown on Mondays (M.O.M. if brevity is your thing) at Madrone, because our friends at the only heavily-armed art bar in the neighborhood and/or city have dug [...]

NIGHT VISION: Ninja Metal Band Brings the Encore on to Divis

by Andrew Dalton on August 30, 2010

Last Thursday some intense black metal shit went down at The Independent. (Presumably, this is necessary every couple of months to exorcise all the hippie ghosts that build up in the rafters of that place.) Some of the growls vocals weren’t even in English! Anyhow, one of the three bands that played that night didn’t [...]

Get Your Blue Bottle Fix at Cafe Divis [Formerly On the Corner]

by Andrew Dalton on August 26, 2010

Well, it looks like On the Corner’s replacement is finally growing into it’s own at Oak and Divis. Although they still haven’t posted their name anywhere other than a handwritten sign proclaiming “Cafe Divis Hours”, they’ve cleaned up quite a bit since we last popped in during their soft open.
Most notably to those of us [...]

Dearest Divisadero

by Andrew Dalton on August 24, 2010

It’s so hot outside, no one even wants to sit out on the sidewalk seating along Divis, but judging from this recently scrawled note in the Bean Bag Cafe bathroom, some brave soul toughed out the heat for long enough to pen a heartfelt goodbye to our rehabbed thoroughfare:
“Dearest Divisadero,
Thank you for everything. You have [...]

Fixing Fell Street Kind of Broke Fell Street Yesterday

by Andrew Dalton on August 24, 2010

Yesterday morning the neighborhood’s cheapest gas station, the dastardly Arco at Fell and Divis was closed for some portion of the morning. Unfortunately for the cyclists, the Fix Fell people didn’t successfully shutdown the pelican-smothering, bike lane-trespassers just yet (the pumps reopened later in the afternoon), but more importantly I think it’s important to point [...]

Whoops, You Probably Missed a Sweet Deal at Little Star

by Andrew Dalton on August 23, 2010

Friend and sometimes panhandler, Broke-Ass Stuart launched his new deals site: Broke Bucks today and his inaugural deal is (was) half-off at Little Star on Divis (suck it, Valencia Little Star patrons!) the only downside is that you probably missed the deal because you’re slow and all 200 of the $12 coupons sold out in [...]

New Haircut Store at 537 Divis [UPDATE: It's Called Population]

by Andrew Dalton on August 23, 2010

Now that the miserable June/July/August deathgloom seems to have subsided, we’ve been spotting some changes in the business along Divisadero. The most drastic change is probably the slick new salon at 537 Divis where the Divisadero Community Gallery used to be located. (Speaking of which, what happened to that place?) There’s no signage up yet [...]

Mojo Wants You To Drink on Divisadero, Bay to Breakers Doesn’t

by Andrew Dalton on August 3, 2010

The June/July gloom has been keeping us down a little bit here at Aggressive Panhandler HQ (a tent in the panhandle, you’ll recall), but August has so far turned out pretty sunny, so naturally we’re thinking about the best places to drink beers outside. Aforementioned malaise has kept us from following any recent Bay to [...]
