Upcoming: Bike Party Double Header!

by Andrew Dalton on September 21, 2009

tourdefatLike many of our fellow panhandlers, we’re big fans of bicycles around here so we’re pretty excited to point out not one, but two bike-related events coming up this weekend: New Belgium’s Tour de Fat on Saturday in Speedway Meadow and Bike the Block on Sunday. Read on for details…

First up, since Tour de Fat is sponsored by New Belgium Brewing – San Francisco’s favorite organic, wind-powered, macro-microbrew – they’ll be pouring Fat Tire for “donations” benefiting the SFBC and the Bay Area Ridge Trail all afternoon. The Bike Parade begins at 11am, and the musical performances start at Noon with acts like SF Songstruner Sean Hayes and Portland’s immensely enjoyable March Fourth Marching Band (seriously, their myspace page does not do them justice.)

Finally, there will be a “Carpocalypse Now” Funeral procession for one lucky volunteer who will trade in their car for a bike. THE HORROR!

Details are a little thin on the Bike the Block party, but here’s what we got from Nopa Networking:

Bike the Block – A bike themed block party
